Who I am

What personal data I collect and why I collect it
I collect personal information when you sign up for my Newsletter. I collect this information in order to send newsletters with links to my blog, to Facebook groups, to other links of interest as well information on current ads and offers for my products and events. I only collect this information if you consciously input it into the form and press Submit. At any time, you may rescind the permission to use this information by unsubscribing from the Newsletter using the link at the bottom of a newsletter.

I also collect personal information when you fill out my Contact Form to send me a question. This information is used to allow the form to send me your message. I do nothing more with this information than read your email, reply to you and keep your message on file for future reference unless you ask me to delete the message or 6 months have passed and we have no further contact and I delete it.

Personal data is not just created by your interactions with my site. Personal data is also generated from technical processes such as contact forms, comments, cookies, analytics, and third party embeds such as Paypal payment buttons.

Comments
When visitors leave comments on the soulcodemethod.com site, the site collects the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Information collected via comments is not used for any other purpose including marketing.

Media
If you upload images to this website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms
I also collect personal information when you fill out my Contact Form to send me a question or communicate in any way. This includes your name, your email address and your IP address. This information is used to allow the form to send me your message. I do nothing more with this information than read your email, reply to you and keep your message on file for future reference unless you ask me to delete the message or 6 months have passed and we have no further contact and I delete it. I do not use this information for marketing purposes.

Cookies
If you leave a comment on this site, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log into this site, a temporary cookie is set to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, several cookies are set up to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Who I share your data with
I do not sell any of your information to third parties and I only share some information to the following parties due to necessary interactions over the Internet.

I use MailChimp to create and send my Newsletter. They store the information you enter in their servers. This is their privacy policy: MailChimp Privacy

My hosting provider Hostgator.com provides this site with analytical information. Their privacy policy at Hostgator Privacy under the section Use of Services, Website Visits and Support describes the current types of information they collect automatically and what they do with that information.

My services are paid for through Paypal. If you press a Paypal button on my Services page, Paypal will collect information about you including your IP address and any other information your input into Paypal’s user interface. How long I retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on this website for the Newsletter or otherwise, I also store the personal information they provide in their user profile through MailChimp. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

I keep contact newsletter subscription information indefinitely or until the customer unsubscribes and removes it, form messages for six months, analytics records are kept at Hostgator for 7 years, and customer purchase records are kept for ten years.

What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data I hold about you, including any data you have provided to this site. You can also request that I erase any personal data I hold about you. This does not include any data I am obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where your data is sent
In this section you should list all transfers of your site data outside the European Union and describe the means by which that data is safeguarded to European data protection standards. This could include your web hosting, cloud storage, or other third party services.

European data protection law requires data about European residents which is transferred outside the European Union to be safeguarded to the same standards as if the data was in Europe. So in addition to listing where data goes, you should describe how you ensure that these standards are met either by yourself or by your third party providers, whether that is through an agreement such as Privacy Shield, model clauses in your contracts, or binding corporate rules.

Although Hostgator, my domain hosting provider is located in the United States, it has updated its Privacy Policy to reflect its agreement to abide by European data protection laws whether the information originated in the European Union or not. Because I am located in Germany, I have a Data Processing Addendum Agreement with MailChimp which includes a Privacy Shield covering any personal information that MailChimp and I share when you subscribe to my Newsletter. This information is protected as if it originated in the European Union whether it does or not.
