Session Setup
Sessions are done via Skype, Facebook video chat, in person or in certain circumstances by telephone. If the client desires, sessions can also be done by proxy. The first session may last up to 1.5 hrs because of getting to know each other and describing the situation. Subsequent sessions should not last more than an hour. An intake form filled out and sent to the practitioner in advance will help the first session be as productive as possible.

Confidentiality
Confidentiality is an integral part of counseling and is seen as essential to building the practitioner-client relationship and ensuring the client’s sense of safety. It is vital therefore that the client can trust that everything discussed will remain completely confidential. All information will remain confidential unless both the client and practitioner agree to discuss something with a third party. The only circumstance where confidentiality might be broken would be if there was a serious risk to the client’s life or if another person’s life was at risk; alternatively, in the rare instance where the practitioner was liable to civil or criminal court proceedings if they did not disclose client information. If at all possible this would be discussed at length with the client beforehand and everything would be done to safeguard client confidentiality.
All records are held securely to ensure the utmost confidentiality in the treatment of any information about any client. No information will be disclosed to external sources without the client’s written permission, except under certain legal circumstances (e.g., child protection laws).
